Merri

Merri is a community cafe that brings people together. They partner with local mental health organisations to foster connection and end the loneliness epidemic. They believe community is the answer to a lot of our modern day frustrations.

Project Scope

  • Brand strategy & Re-design of visual identity

  • Website UI & UX: Strategy, sitemaps, user journeys and wireframes

  • Social media design: Feed post templates, interactive stories & highlights

  • Print material design: leaflets, billboards, business cards, merchandise

  • Packaging design: Packaging boxes, tags, stickers

The challenge

  • Merri started off as a home bakery and developed their visual identity with that goal in mind. Soon after they were in business, their goals and vision changed.

  • The challenge was to craft a visual identity that was unique, professional, warm and grounded, reflecting their new goals of running as a community bakery and working with lots of collaborators

The solution

  • I developed a new brand strategy and visual identity that exudes warmth, approachability and professionalism, whilst weaving through their uplifting nature using fun stickers and community-centred messaging.

  • The strategy involved building an identity around a simple logo mark that enabled them to scale into different opportunities outside of bakes.

  • Their new identity will now be seamlessly applied to their physical community cafe, reflecting a cohesive experience for their audience online and when they walk into the cafe

Local community empowerment

Merri has been awarded a government fund to continue to expand their vision of bringing local communities together. They plan to open more branches nationwide.

The Impact

Brand recognition and differentiation

Their fresh new brand identity alongside their passion has made Merri become a community hub, hosting lots of events and gaining visibility online and offline. With consistency, there has been increase in brand recognition.

Confidence and excitement

Both, in the founders and the audience Merri is spoken of and shared amongst people with joy. Individuals are excited to connect with other like-minded individuals, feel a sense of togetherness and contribute to something greater.
